Through the Festival Ruimtekoers: Empty Arnhem turns green at night. The Boulevard Heuvelink 48 building came to my attention. The empty building spaces are not only put in the spotlight, but all kinds of activities are organized in them. For example, the old ABN AMRO building on Gele Rijdersplein is ‘A place to be’ with a temporary restaurant.
The Boulevard Heuvelink 48 is an old school building that was formerly the craftsman school of Arnhem. Now it’s a squat house for six students/musicians and in the near future, the building will be transformed into luxury residential apartments. With time the memories of this building will change, because they are fragments of time. By combining photographs made of the inside of the building, class pictures taken in the building and memories written about their time in the building. I have created magnetic fragments with which a moment in time can be constructed. Knowing it’s just for a moment, until someone else constructs their version of that moment.
