Tambu Research and Workshop
June 2021A spatial installation with musicians, instruments, illustrations and posters. This is the start of my in-depth research into the art of Tambu. Its hidden form of communication in music and dance in which the rich history of Curaçao is engraved. The songs are a way to express emotions such as anger, sadness, pain and joy, and to spread information. I am curious about the ways this can inform other forms of communication. As the first expression of my research, I organized a workshop that focused on learning and practicing the instruments.
